Merlin Iliad titanium MTB Mountain Bike
This is a titanium MTB from about 2001. The build puts an emphasis on light weight and the frame has been designed for good climbing characteristics. It was first sold by City Cycles in San Francisco. The size is medium small. It has a 30” unweighted standover height. The bottom bracket height is 12.5”. It is a 3x10 speed with DeOreXTR. The hubs are Chris King, 135mm QR, branded Bontrager, and it has the buzzing bee sound these rear hubs are famous for. Has Maxxis 1.9” knobby tires. Headset is 1 1/8 Chris King. Seatpost is an unusual Salsa model with 2 separate bolts for tilt and one bolt for clamp. It is 35cm long, 27.2, and much of the post shows wear of the black finish, probably from bags that were strapped there. The fork is an 80mm Marzocchi corsa SL WC. A dust cap is missing from the left side crown of the fork. The level of fork compliance can be adjusted with the tab on the right side of the fork crown. The brakes are parallel push Shimano XT; the pads maintain a flat aspect to the rim along their travel. The chain shows almost no wear on our gauge. The rim sidewalls and brake pads also show essentially no wear. Bike is in good condition and ready to ride.
This bike was generously donated to Bike Buddies, who provide free bikes to kids and families in need in the Columbia Gorge area. Proceeds from the sales of adult bikes go to the BikeBuddies nonprofit to buy parts for the kids bikes which are repaired and refurbished by our volunteer mechanics.
